Why What We Do Matters For more than six decades, the Qalandia Camp Women’s Cooperative has been more than a place of training and craftwork—it has been a lifeline for women and families living under the challenges of displacement and limited opportunity. In a refugee camp where unemployment is high and resources are scarce, our programs offer more than income; they create dignity, confidence, and hope. Every stitch of embroidery, every skill learned, and every child cared for in our nursery is a step toward breaking cycles of poverty and preserving a proud cultural identity.

Our work matters because it connects the personal to the collective. By empowering women, we strengthen families and the entire community. By preserving Palestinian tatreez, we keep alive a heritage recognized globally by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible culture. And by building solidarity, we transform a small cooperative into a model of resilience—showing that even in the most difficult conditions, women can lead, create, and inspire change.
